I’m Mike Sowers and thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself.
I come from a legacy family line of military and 1st responders who have often worn both hats. I enlisted in MO Army National Guard Military Police Corps to gain valuable training and experience as well as a way to pay for my secondary education. Over my career, I have worked for the Crawford and Phelps County Sheriff’s Offices and the Rolla Police Department. However, my 1st law enforcement job started here in Henry County and now have came back full circle. In late 2022, early 2023 I was hired for a shared position between the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Henry County Prosecutor’s Office to be a part time detective at the Sheriff’s Office and a part time Investigator at the Prosecutor’s. This position quickly transitioned into a full time position with the Prosecutor , where I am currently working. I’m a conservative Christian. Pro Life and a member of the NRA and stand behind SAPA. Hunting, fishing and kayaking are just a few of my favorite hobbies. Once I became aware of Sheriff Oberkrom’s plans for retirement, I decided to take on the challenge to become the next Henry County Sheriff. Building upon the foundation which he laid and established, I would like to continue to build upon that foundation. I have an extensive background in community oriented policing and problem solving. I’d like to lead the way to a new approach combatting crime by empowering the community to work side by side with law enforcement to solve these problems. And, while we may never to be able to completely wipe out crime, I know we can all make a significant difference in this County to make it safer for everyone. And I will be leading from the front.
