
The City of Sedalia congratulates Sean Pilliard on being sworn in today as the Associate Circuit Judge for Pettis County in Missouri’s 18th Judicial Circuit. His appointment was announced by Governor Mike Kehoe on June 27, following the retirement of Judge R. Paul Beard II.
A lifelong Missourian with strong ties to Sedalia, Judge Pilliard is known for his broad legal expertise and dedication to serving the community. He has operated the Law Offices of Sean P. Pilliard for many years, handling a wide range of cases including bankruptcy, criminal defense, and family law.
Beyond his legal practice, Judge Pilliard has been deeply involved in local organizations. He is an active member of the Pettis County Bar Association, Sedalia and Pettis County Economic Development, and the Sedalia Park Band board. He also volunteers his time to support local youth programs, demonstrating a deep commitment to the well-being of the community.
During today’s ceremony, Judge Pilliard shared what an honor it is to serve as a judge in the same county where his great-great-grandfather once presided. He expressed his commitment to being fair and serving the people of Pettis County with integrity. He was joined by his wife and two sons.
Judge Pilliard earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Missouri and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law. His extensive experience, education, and record of civic involvement make him well prepared to serve in this important judicial role.
