FORT WORTH, Texas – April 28, 2025 – The State Fair Community College shooting sports team wrapped up its 2024-25 campaign with a second-place finish at the Tri-State Shoot-Off, held April 4-6 at Fort Worth Trap and Skeet and Defender Shotgun Sports Park.

The event featured the traditional lineup of 100 American trap, 100 American skeet and 100 sporting clays.

Sophomore Bailey Carter of Montrose shot a 91 in sporting clays. Freshman David Thomlinson of Hughesville recorded a 92 in American trap, and sophomore Landon Schachtele of Armstrong posted a 94 in American skeet.

Freshman Ava Cooper of West Plains excelled in the women’s division, taking first place in American trap and finishing second in both American skeet and sporting clays.

“We were able to take second place as a team at this event,” head coach Sarah Manuel said. “We also took second place overall in the Tri-State Shoot, which takes into account all three events throughout the season. This is based on the top two team scores in each of the three disciplines throughout the semester. I’m very proud of all of our kids. They worked very hard all season long. I want to thank my sophomores. They led the team well all semester. There were only three of them, Bailey Carter, Landon Schachtele and Gage Young. They showed up for everything and were great leaders through it all.”
