PERFECTING COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK SKILLS
The district’s first-ever Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class welcomed students last week.
One of the most important skills an EMT must possess is the ability to communicate and work together with those around them. Last week, students had fun with a team building activity that really tested their ability to communicate with their peers. During this fun activity students worked in groups in which the last person in their line was the only one who knew what an original pictured looked like. They had to use non-verbal and verbal communication skills to try and explain how to draw the image.
This class, taught by Megan Weiss, will allow eligible students to take exams in the spring to earn their EMT certification. Credit for the EMT program can be articulated to several community colleges as well as fulfills the requirements to start Paramedic school.
