Cass County Sheriff’s Office Remember Fallen Deputy on 28th Year Anniversary

Today, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office remembers Deputy Kevin Mayse #619. On June 13th, 1995 Deputy Sheriff Kevin Mayse succumbed to injuries sustained in a vehicle crash during a pursuit four days earlier.
His patrol car struck a tree on West 172nd Street, west of Holmes Road, during the pursuit. The driver he was pursuing was charged with manslaughter but convicted only of leaving the scene of an accident.
Deputy Mayse had served with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office for three years. He was survived by his expectant wife, two daughters, and son.
By proclamation of Sheriff Weber, Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office shall display their mourning bands to honor the memory of Deputy Kevin Mayse and the ultimate sacrifice he gave to protect the citizens of Cass County.
