Appleton City Community Calendar Packed with Events, Worship, and Health Services

Appleton City is buzzing with community activities this summer, including blood drives, worship events, children’s programs, and healthcare services, all designed to bring residents together and support one another.

Life-Saving Blood Drive at Ellett Memorial Hospital

The Community Blood Center, the primary blood supplier for over 70 hospitals in the Greater Kansas City region, will hold a blood drive at Ellett Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 25, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The hospital is located at 610 N. Ohio Street in Appleton City. Donors can make appointments at savealifenow.org/group using Group Code: EG2B, though walk-ins are also welcome. Worship, VBS, and Community Fellowship

  • River of Life Fellowship continues its monthly “All the More” services on Sunday, July 20 at 6:00 p.m. This month’s meeting will be a Worship Singspiration with music and fellowship. Attendees are encouraged to bring a song to share and enjoy refreshments afterward.

  • Trinity Lutheran Church will host a “Christmas in July” Vacation Bible School from July 21-24, 6:00–8:00 p.m. Each evening begins with dinner at 5:45 p.m., followed by crafts, music, and spiritual education. This year’s mission project will collect non-perishable food for the West Central Food Bank.

Healthcare Access Expands Locally

Ellett Memorial Hospital continues to offer outpatient specialist appointments throughout July, including services in gastroenterology, podiatry, orthopedics, dermatology, rheumatology, and neurology. Call 660-476-2111 for appointments.

Upcoming Events

  • The Growing in Grace Community Center, 117 W. 4th St., will host a community dinner and concert on Saturday, August 2, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with live gospel music and a full home-style meal. The center will also host a Kid’s Fun Day on August 16, featuring games, food, balloon twisting, and more. Both events are donation-only.

  • The 2025 EMH Community Block Party is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those interested in vendor space should contact Kim Raybourn at 660-476-5236.

Community Highlights

  • The Appleton City Carousel continues to welcome visitors every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. through Labor Day weekend. The Carousel recently added Connecticut as its 35th state visitor and has now hosted guests from six countries.

  • The Appleton City Museum is open Fridays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., or by appointment. New exhibits include a stained glass window from the original First Baptist Church and a framed mirror from Motts Food Locker.

  • The Appleton City Ministerial Alliance (ACMA) continues its mission of community support and spiritual connection. Donations to the Tony Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 scholarship supporting local students, are encouraged.
