The Henry County Health Center, in partnership with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, has announced the launch of Project Lifesaver, a new safety initiative aimed at protecting vulnerable residents prone to wandering due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, autism, or dementia.
Set to launch on July 1, 2025, Project Lifesaver is an internationally recognized search and rescue program that equips participants with a small personal transmitter. If a participant goes missing, specially trained law enforcement officers can use the device to quickly locate and recover the individual—dramatically reducing search times and improving safety outcomes.
“This program is truly life-saving,” said officials from the Henry County Health Center. “It provides peace of mind for families and guardians while enabling emergency personnel to respond quickly in critical situations.”
The service is being made possible through generous local sponsorship from a variety of community organizations and individuals, including: Truman Lake Foundation, Henry County Memory Fund, Gus Wetzel Family Foundation, Mike Keith Insurance, Howard E Hunt Trust, Kenney Farms, Integrity Floors, Clinton Methodist Church Seekers Group, Dr. Janet Hankins, Klassen Construction, Groff Dental Studio, Beth and Chris Walker, Gary Cover, C Squared, Silhouettes, and Gene Henry.
Guardians or parents of individuals who may benefit from the program are encouraged to schedule a screening appointment by calling the Henry County Health Center at 660-885-8193.
With Project Lifesaver, Henry County is taking a major step forward in providing compassionate, proactive care for its most vulnerable residents.
