West Central Missouri Community Action Agency (“West Central”) is honored to be named once again to the United Way of Greater Kansas City’s Impact 100 list. This recognition highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to addressing critical community needs and creating positive change across the region.
Each Impact 100 organization will receive unrestricted funding from United Way, empowering them to allocate resources where they are needed most to further their missions. This approach underscores United Way’s commitment to trust-based philanthropy, recognizing that organizational leaders are best positioned to determine how to utilize funds effectively.
“We are proud and happy to continue this partnership,” said Jamie Oberly, Chief Community Services Officer of West Central. “United Way’s support enables us to expand our reach and deepen our impact, particularly in Cass County.”
The unrestricted funding from United Way’s Impact 100 initiative allows West Central to allocate resources in the Kansas City region where they are needed most. In Cass County, these funds support various projects, including assistance for the Raymore Food Pantry, ensuring that families have access to essential resources.
The 2025 Impact 100 encompasses a diverse array of organizations serving all six counties in the Greater Kansas City area. Their collective efforts aim to improve health outcomes, enhance youth opportunities, foster financial stability, and build resilient communities. West Central Missouri Community Action Agency has served a nine-county region in west central Missouri since 1965. The organization’s mission, “West Central helps people and communities reach their fullest potential by cultivating and coordinating resources, building partnerships, and advocating for change”, is reflected throughout the Agency’s programs and services. Housing, emergency services, energy conservation, employment and training, transportation, and credit building are provided annually to over 10,500 individuals.
In addition to core services, West Central’s community development corporation, New Growth, supports entrepreneurship and small business development through the New Growth Women’s Business Center, and a business acceleration network, “Start Here”. A transportation program, New Growth Transit, utilizes a volunteer driver network to provide free rides to individuals for employment, medical appointments, retail shopping, and other needs. West Central’s primary service region includes the counties of Cass, Bates, Benton, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, Morgan, St. Clair, and Vernon, with program expansions in Barton, Camden, Dade, Dallas, Howell, Jackson, Polk, and Bourbon and Crawford counties in Kansas.
