Lady Roadrunners Finish Regular Season Strong at Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa – April 28, 2025 – The State Fair Community College women’s track and field team wrapped up the regular season with 19 top-eight finishes at the Viking Classic hosted by Grand View University on Friday, April 25.

Sophomore Madison Johnson of Harrisonville captured the 200 meters with a time of 27.01 seconds and finished third in the 100 meters in a collegiate-best 13.06.

Freshman Bethany Slovensky of New Florence won the long jump with a mark of 5.10 meters, took third in the triple jump with a collegiate-best 10.62 meters, and placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a collegiate-best 15.63 seconds.

Freshman Journey Sander of Cairo won the triple jump with a collegiate-best leap of 10.79 meters. Sander also finished fifth in the high jump with a collegiate-best mark of 1.48 meters and placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.03.

Freshman Nora Moreno of Versailles placed second in the 100 meters with a collegiate-best time of 12.90 and second in the 200 meters with a collegiate-best 27.29.

The Lady Roadrunners’ 4×100-meter relay team finished second with a time of 51.07.

Freshman Izzy Sabala of Hermitage took second in the javelin with a throw of 32.16 meters.

Freshman Laiysha Freeman of Kansas City finished second in the long jump (5.05 meters) and seventh in the 100 meters (13.15).

Freshman Sophia Edwin of Killeen, Texas, placed fourth in the long jump (4.98 meters) and fourth in the triple jump with a collegiate-best 10.35 meters.

Freshman Stahrr Williams of Kansas City placed fifth in the 200 meters (27.55) and sixth in the 100 meters with a collegiate-best 13.14.

Sophomore Claire Nichols of Charleston finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 29.38 meters.

“We finished our regular season with a bang,” head coach Brad Hagedorn said. “Our team was highly competitive and finished with wins in many events. I would have liked the meet to have been scored. I feel we would’ve finished quite high. This completes our fourth season, and it has certainly been our most successful. I would like to thank all our athletes and coaches for a wonderful experience this year.”
