For the second severe storm to impact Western Missouri in 2025, the National Weather Service, located in Pleasant Hill, continues to have issues getting alerts out to the public. In a statement release on their website, they claim telecom issues are effecting 6 weather radio stations in Missouri and Kansas.
“The NOAA Weather Radio stations KEC77 (St. Joseph), KZZ85 (Cameron), KZZ34 (Carrollton), KZZ39 (Clinton), WXM39 (La Plata), and WZ2512 (Parker), are down due to a telecom issue. There is no estimated time for a return to service, but the issue has been elevated and technicians are working the issue.”
These issues impact hundreds of thousands of citizen who live in western Missouri and eastern Kansas, who may depend on their weather radios to be alerted for incoming severe weather such as thunderstorms and tornados.
With more severe weather forecasted to hit West Central Missouri on Tuesday evening, many questions if the outage will continue.
