
SEDALIA, MO (March 8, 2025) – Civil Air Patrol NCR-MO-009 Sedalia Cadet Flight Civil Air Patrol is holding a fundraiser to raise funds to defray costs for our team of cadets to participate in the world’s largest rocketry competition. This competition is called the American Rocketry Challenge. The Sedalia Cadet Flight is competing against over 1,000 teams nationwide. Fifteen teams are participating from the state of Missouri. The top 100 teams are selected for a national final contest outside Washington DC. The top 10 teams split a prize pool of approximately $100,000 split between team members and their school/organization. The team that achieves First Place will represent the USA at the Paris Air Show in Paris France in the summer of 2025 against the winning teams representing the United Kingdom, France, and Japan.
Sedalia Cadet Flight Cadet members C/Msgt Isaiah Groshart, C/CMSsgt Jerimiah Harner, C/SMSgt Caleb Mallardi, C/Amn Hannah Mallardi, and C/MSGt Leah Mallardi have designed, built and tested rockets to carry two eggs to an altitude of 790 feet and recover them undamaged in an elapsed time between 41 and 44 seconds. The goal of the unit is to raise $2,500 to cover the costs of building materials, electronics (altimeters),launch equipment, motors and transportation to the national finals in The Plains, VA in May 2025.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) in its auxiliary role. CAP Missouri Wing’s 915 members also perform homeland security, disaster relief, and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state, and local agencies. As a nonprofit organization, CAP also plays a leading role in STEM/aerospace education. Its members serve as mentors to almost 400 young people participating in CAP’s Missouri Wing Cadet Programs. Sedalia Cadet Flight is also a funded partner of the Pettis County United Way.
