
The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8. All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food, fellowship, and a short devotional provided by a special speaker.
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, February 9 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Start your Super Bowl Sunday with a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
Golden Apples will meet at the Forest Park building 5:00 pm, Thursday February 6, for a Pre-Super Bowl party. Bring your favorite tailgating dishes, wear Super Bowl attire if you’d like and join in the fun. Drinks and table service provided. Come and enjoy as they gear up for Super Bowl Sunday!
Appleton City First Christian Church will cheer the Kansas City Chiefs to victory, by sponsoring a “Souper” Bowl Food Drive, including not only cans of soup but other perishable items for the AC Community Food Pantry. Be creative when you host your celebration by asking your guest to bring a can of soup to the party. Items may be left at the Church or taken directly to West Central Food Panty on AC Main Street.
The Parents & Friends of the Appleton City FFA would like to invite you to their Annual Labor Auction on February 16 in the high school gym. The evening will begin with a buyers dinner at 5:00 p.m. served by Kickin’ Chicken, with the live auction starting at 6:00 p.m. As part of this event, they will also have a Remington 870 Super Mag 12 Gauge for raffle and a silent auction, which will be setup along the south wall of the high school gym beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that night
Meet Me On Main Street is back in time for your last minute Valentine’s Day shopping! Join local businesses for their Second Wednesday Shop and Stroll on February 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The AC Spring City Wide Garage Sale dates will be April 25 and 26. Information regarding permits will be posted at a later date.

Grace Christian Academy will have their 5th annual hog roast dinner with silent and live auctions fundraiser Saturday, March 8 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lowry City Civic Center, 4th & Cleveland in Lowry City. The hog roast dinner for $10 includes meat, sides, dessert and drink. Children 4-12 years eat for $6, 3 and under are free. Carry out is available. Silent auction from 4:00 – 6:30 and live auction starts at 7:00 p.m. Shuttles depart every 15 minutes from Landmark Tickets are available at the school or at the door.
Pastures and cattle management are important to the profitability and sustainability of cattle operations in the surrounding areas. Furthermore, education to manage these aspects of your cattle operation properly could enhance its profitability. Therefore, MU Extension, Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District and Cedar County Farm Bureau are cooperating to provide the Cedar County Livestock and Forage Conference 5:30 p.m. February 27 at the Stockton United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 708 State Hwy 32, Stockton, MO 65785. Cedar County agriculture organizations will provide updates during the event. Natural Resource Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency will provide updates on their programs. Also, a representative from Cedar County Farm Bureau will provide a legislative update. This conference will focus on pasture and cattle management strategies for optimum productivity and profitability. MU extension presentations and speakers will be: Management considerations for retaining calves post weaning – Patrick Davis, MU Extension Livestock Field Specialist, and Pasture management in preparation for the upcoming grazing season – Terry Halleran, MU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist. The conference is free, and a meal will be provided. Hillbilly Express Smoked Meats and Catering will be providing the meal.
