I am so excited to announce that in partnership with Truman Lake Community Foundation as well as Henry County Emergency Management and Radford Media Group, we will be offering free weather radios to be picked up here at the radio station next month! I submitted a grant proposal to the Truman Lake Community Foundation which is a division of Community Foundation of the Ozarks to help us provide the weather radios to those who need one in our area. What an incredible evening it was last week when the foundation handed out over 45 thousand dollars in grant money to area organizations! This is funded by donations of members of our community that see a need to help out citizens in our area and to make an impact in our ever changing world. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, funding is becoming scarce in the federal and state agencies and budgets/programs have been slashed. One of those programs was the ability to offer money to local governments for repair/maintenance of outdoor weather sirens. This is even more of reason to get the weather radios in the hands of our citizens. I want to thank the Truman Lake Community Foundation as well as the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (College of the Ozarks) for the opportunity to help our area and a big thanks to Radford Media Group for the media exposure as well as having a distribution outlet for these radios. More information will be coming out in November on how you can pick up your free weather radio. ~Subby
