Clinton, MO (October 12, 2024) —The Clinton School District, in partnership with the
Education Foundation for Clinton Students Inc., proudly announces the launch of “A Home Run
for the Future”, a capital campaign to construct a baseball and softball complex at Clinton High
School. This project is made possible by a remarkable lead donation of $750,000 from the late
George R. Lilleston, a 1958 Clinton High School graduate and longstanding Clinton attorney.
This significant contribution, designated specifically for the construction of a softball and
baseball complex, covers nearly half of the project’s estimated cost.
The new facility, to be located just east of Clinton High School on land already owned by the
district, will offer students a full range of opportunities they deserve as outlined below:
● Safety-The new complex will eliminate the need for students to travel across town for
practices and games.
● Enhanced Playability-The new fields will feature synthetic grass, allowing for more play
opportunities and reduced maintenance.
● Program Growth-Both baseball and softball are offered at the middle school and high
school, resulting in program numbers doubling in recent years.
● School Pride-High-quality athletic facilities foster a sense of pride, leading to student
success and engagement.
● Beyond Baseball/Softball-The complex can be utilized for other school events, physical
education classes, and community activities
“The need for district-owned softball and baseball fields has long been recognized, but budget
limitations have made it difficult to address this issue,” says Board of Education President Cody
Westendorff. “With this generous donation covering nearly half of the project cost, we can
confidently say that our dream for these much-needed facilities is finally within reach.”
Phase 1 of the new complex will feature a combination baseball/softball field, with future plans
to add a second field. The total projected cost of Phase 1 is $1.5 million to $2 million.
The Education Foundation and the Clinton School District are committed to raising the
remaining funds for Phase 1 from now until January 15, 2025, with the field ready for the Spring
2026 baseball season.
All contributions made toward this project will be directed to the Education Foundation and are
tax-deductible. Donors can contribute in both 2024 and 2025, maximizing potential tax benefits
over two years. If you are interested in contributing, please contact the Education Foundation at
foundation@clintoncardinals.org or 660-890-3050. A portal for online donations will be available
November 1st. Additional information regarding this capital campaign is available at

“As a foundation, we are proud to support this vital project by serving as the central source for
tax-deductible donations,” says Carla Moberly, President of the Education Foundation for
Clinton Students Inc. ”The spirit of giving in our community, exemplified by our lead donor,
George Lilleston, demonstrates a commitment to investing in our students and enhancing their
educational experience. Together, we can create facilities that not only benefit students but also
the entire community.”
The Clinton School District invites everyone to step up to the plate and join us in this important
endeavor. Every contribution brings us closer to hitting a grand slam for students and their
future.
