Wet Roadways Contributes to Area Residents Vehicle Crashes

Three vehicle accidents involving area residents can be attributed to wet roadway conditions.

The first occurred on Saturday, September 21st at 9:43 pm in Platte county.  Jaclynn D Grieme,28, of Clinton was heading southbound on I-29 when she hit a patch of water on the road and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and hit a guardrail. Grieme was taken to North Kansas City Hospital in serious condition.

A second incident happened at 3:22 pm on Monday, September 23rd in Cass county. Jubilee A Straasburg, 42, of Garden City was traveling eastbound on Missouri Highway 2 when her vehicle hydroplaned and struck the side of a westbound van driven by  Karen C Flanagan,59, of Freeman. Both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the accident. Straasburg had minor injuries but opted to seek treatment on her own.

A third weather related accident occurred in Benton county. On Monday, September 23rd at 8:25 pm, a vehicle driven by a 17 year old juvenile from Edwards, was traveling eastbound on Poorboy road he failed to negotiate a left hand curve and traveled off the wet road. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the the road and overturned. The driver was wearing his seatbelt. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.
