Yesterday (August 7, 2024) members of the Sons of the American Revolution presented five Fire Safety Commendation Awards and two Life Saving Awards to members of our department for their successful rescue efforts at the Grain Bin Rescue at Hankins Grain on January 29, 2024. At this incident, seven members of the Clinton Fire Department successfully extricated a male victim that was trapped inside a grain bin, buried in grain to this chest.
Presenting the awards on behalf of the Sons of the American Revolution were Mr. Michael Powers (President of the Martin Warren Chapter of SAR) and Mr. Gene Henry (President of the Missouri Society SAR). Receiving Fire Safety Commendation Awards for their support role in the rescue were: Firefighter Bayley Heider, Firefighter Ethan Houk, Engineer Jarrod Hix, Lieutenant Jeremy Millam, and Lieutenant Nathan Leochner. Receiving Life Saving Awards for their direct involvement in the rescue were Captain Wade Glasscock and Lieutenant Mike Morales.
We would like to thank the Sons of the American Revolution for recognizing these individuals for their efforts that went above the normal call to duty. We are proud of each of these professionals and ask the public to join us in congratulating them again on their dedication to saving lives.
