HCMF is Here to Help with Programs, Events and Much More

Please join us on May 4th, for the Henry County Memory Fund 10th Annual Big Purple Party that will be held at the Hawthorn Bank parking lot at Old Country Club Park. Registration is at 9:00 am and the ceremony will begin at 9:30 am. The ceremony will honor Alzheimer’s and dementia family members, friends or loved ones that have been lost due to this disease. There will be a Memory Walk at the end the ceremony to pay tribute of your loved one.

The HCMF Medicine of Music program can help Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients with a prescription of their favorite music. Musical memory assists those who have Alzheimer’s or dementia. Music can help relieve stress, anxiety, agitation, and depression because the key areas of the brain that are linked to musical memory are relatively undamaged by the disease.

We also offer a caregiver support group on the first Wednesday of each month from 12pm to 1 pm at the Clinton Christian Church, 1201 E. Ohio, Clinton, MO. This is a safe place to learn, offer and receive helpful tips, while meeting others that are coping with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. You can register for this meeting by contacting: Ranae Walrath at 660-890-7294 or rwalrath@gvmh.org.

Applications are available to anyone that needs assistance. Please contact hcmemoryfund@gmail.com, Christa Atchison 660-525-1338 or Ranae Walrath at GVMH at 660-890-7294 for applications or questions.
