
The Henry County Republican Club held its annual “Reagan Dinner,” named for former president Ronald Reagan, on February 26th at the Clinton Rotary Building. Congressman Mark Alford, Representative from Missouri District 4 of the United States House of Representatives, attended with his wife Leslie; Club President Scott J. Brooks recognized three officials within Henry County who are retiring from office; and political candidates filing for office were given the chance to introduce themselves and address attendees.
Dinner began at 6:30, catered by Perryman’s Kicking Chicken, and preceded by an invocation and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Club President Scott J. Brooks recognized three officials from Henry County who are retiring from their office: Ann Julian, Henry County Treasurer/Ex-Officio Collector, who has served for 8 years; Dain Sisk, Henry County Coroner, who has served for 16 years; and Henry County Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, who has served 28 years. Sheriff Oberkrom was given a standing ovation in thanks for his decades of service as Henry County Sheriff.
US Congressman Mark Alford, candidate for reelection in Missouris’s 4th District of the US House of Representatives, was in attendance with his wife Leslie and gave an address to attendees. In a subsequent social media post, Alford shared the following statement regarding the event: “So good to be back in Henry County for its annual ‘Reagan Dinner’ at the Rotary building in Clinton. It was two years ago I was here asking for their votes to become their next Congressman for the 4th of Missouri. Thanks Henry County for sending me to Washington to be your vote and your voice. And thanks Gail Perryman for THE best fried chicken in Missouri!!!!”

The Henry County Republican Caucus will be held this Saturday, March 2nd, at the Clinton Rotary Building at 200 W. Franklin St: “All Henry County registered voters who wish to participate should show up at the Rotary Building prior to 10:00 AM and will need to bring their photo identification. Doors will close at 10:00 AM. Any registered voter in line at 10:00 AM will be allowed to enter, but no new voters will be allowed to join the line after 10:00 AM.”
